About Cassandra
Cassandra is a compassionate and dedicated clinical mental health counselor with extensive experience working with individuals across a broad age range and diverse backgrounds. Cassandra focuses on trauma, LGBTQ issues, eating disorders/disordered eating, anxiety, and depression. While these remain their focus, she is committed to providing evidence based care to various other concerns that may arise during the therapeutic process.
Cassandra is currently working on her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Northern Illinois University. She completed her MSEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024 and has two bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology. In addition to her degrees, Cassandra holds certificates in LGBT Studies, Women and Gender Studies, and Trauma-Informed Counseling.
Social justice is a core value in Cassandra’s work, and she is deeply committed to advocating for marginalized communities, including those facing systemic barriers in mental health care. She believes that counseling is not only about individual healing but also about addressing larger societal inequities and providing a voice for those who are often silenced. Cassandra strives to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to reclaim their autonomy.
Her approach to therapy is informed by narrative therapy, which emphasizes the power of stories in shaping one’s identity and healing process. She integrates person-centered and feminist theories, ensuring that each client is seen, heard, and empowered in their therapeutic journey. Cassandra takes a holistic approach to counseling, understanding that each individual’s struggles are influenced by personal experiences and especially by the systems in which they live.
