About Lauren

Lauren Rapp, MSW, LSW, is a trauma-informed psychotherapist deeply committed to holistic care and perinatal mental health. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University and has completed advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International.

Lauren supports emerging adults, parents, and individuals navigating the perinatal period with warmth, compassion, and a strong foundation in trauma recovery. Her areas of focus include perinatal and maternal mental health, complex trauma, grief and loss, parenting children with complex needs, prenatal and postpartum transitions, and healing intergenerational wounds. She also offers infant–caregiver dyadic therapy to support bonding and relational health, particularly after experiences such as birth trauma or NICU stays.

With a nurturing and collaborative presence, Lauren offers an integrative therapeutic approach grounded in relational, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, psychodynamic, somatic, and feminist frameworks. She is trained in Brainspotting, a neurobiological approach for treating trauma, and is IFS-informed through education with the Internal Family Systems Institute. Lauren supports deep healing by helping clients safely process emotions, strengthen internal resources, and build awareness of their brain-body connection in ways that promote a renewed sense of balance.

With little ones and their caregivers, Lauren utilizes DIR, a neurodiversity-affirming, play-based, and attachment-focused intervention. Through child-led interactions, Lauren supports caregivers in increasing joyful encounters, meeting sensory preferences, and understanding developmental needs. Lauren uses her knowledge of perinatal mental health to empower caregivers and build confidence on their parenting journey.

Lauren understands the emotional complexities and societal pressures often surrounding fertility, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. She aims to create a space that insights courage and authentic expression, relieving stigma and shame. She serves on the advisory board of the nationwide Maternal Trauma Support Network, collaborating with maternal health professionals across disciplines to foster community partnerships and engage in advocacy efforts. She also guest speaks on topics such as identity shifts in motherhood and early childhood mental health.

Outside the therapy room, Lauren finds joy being in nature, drinking matcha lattes, referencing pop culture, exploring bookshops, and spending time with her loved ones, including her adopted dog, Penny!
