Our Approach

We come alongside our clients and help guide them through the process of understanding themselves better, with compassion and no shame we can uncover patterns in thinking and behavior that may add to their challenges.

We do this while instilling hope that things can improve and they can feel better with time. We offer our knowledge and experience to help clients understand things like depression and anxiety and trauma so that they are better able to work with their own experiences better.

Compassion is at the root of what we do. Compassion for self and for others. We help clients challenge the idea that they have to be perfect or that having mental health struggles means they are not capable and worthy people.

We also help clients challenge societal expectations that are not serving them well.

A Typical Session

During a 55-60 minute session, your therapist will listen attentively without judgment, providing a safe space for you to express your experiences and challenges as a parent (mom, dad or together). You are encouraged to share updates about your family dynamics, parenting successes, and areas where you need support. The therapist will ask thoughtful questions and offer valuable insights or feedback.

Sessions are an open dialogue and may include:

  • Exploring Parenting Styles: Understanding your parenting approach and finding strategies that work best for your family.
  • Stress Management Techniques: Learning methods to manage parental stress and avoid burnout.
  • Emotional Regulation: Developing skills to regulate your emotions and respond calmly in challenging situations.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Enhancing your ability to communicate effectively with your children and co-parents.
  • Behavioral Strategies: Implementing practical strategies to address and manage your child’s behavior.

Our compassionate counselors are here to support you through every stage of your parenting journey, helping you feel empowered, confident, and prepared for the challenges ahead.

What is therapy for parents?

Therapy for parents is a supportive space to process the emotional and mental load that comes with raising children. It focuses on helping parents manage stress, understand emotional patterns, and build healthier responses—both for themselves and their families.

How does therapy help with parenting stress or burnout?

Therapy helps parents identify sources of overwhelm, regulate emotions, and develop sustainable coping strategies. Instead of pushing through exhaustion, therapy focuses on boundaries, realistic expectations, and emotional support.

Can therapy help even if my child is already in therapy?

Yes. Parent therapy can complement a child’s therapy by helping caregivers respond more calmly, communicate more effectively, and feel more confident in their parenting.
Supporting the parent often supports the entire family system.

  • Ongoing Therapy – Sessions focus on coping skills, emotional regulation, and self-understanding.

  • Integration – Tools are applied in daily parenting and relationships.

  • Ongoing Support – Therapy adjusts as parenting needs evolve.
